SODAVILLE NEVADA
Is this where soda comes from?
Occupied Historic Town
Mineral County
Circa 1870’s
Originally known as Soda Springs, a small settlement existed here and was popular among travelers as a resting stop. The Carson & Colorado Railroad arrived in 1881, stretching south to Rhodes Nevada. The railroad added a small station here and a real township soon developed. Renamed Sodaville as a celebration of the town’s development, it became some what of a resort stop. Sodaville also became the main freighting point for mines situated on the East side of the Excelsior Mountains.Following the decline of the Excelsior Mountain mines in the early 1900’s, the railroad discontinued service to Rhodes in 1938 and felt no reason to continue regular service in to Sodaville. The town slowly declined.
